Texas Hospital Official: ‘We Are Deeply Sorry’ for Ebola Missteps

An official at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, which is at the center of the bungled Ebola response, apologized for the initial misdiagnosis of the index patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, who died of the disease on Oct. 8. “Unfortunately, in our initial treatment of Mr. Duncan, despite our best intentions and a highly skilled medical team, we made mistakes,” Dr. Daniel Varga, chief clinical officer and senior executive vice president for Texas Health Resources, wrote in prepared remarks that he will deliver on Thursday. “We did not correctly diagnose his symptoms as those of Ebola.
