This year saw the 3rd reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise in this millennium. More importantly, it’s also the year that everyone’s favorite non-Peter Parker Spider-Man is finally hitting the mainstream. Miles Morales (who is also the Spider-Man of Marvel’s Ultimate Universe) is a half-black, half-Puerto Rican teen who’s taken up the Spidey mantle after the death of Peter Parker. He’s appeared in the comics for some time, and now Morales stars in his first novel, written by award-winning YA author Jason Reynolds, and out on August 1.
