Cinemax show ‘The Knick’ is coming to HBO for a limited time

LOS ANGELES — HBO is helping little brother Cinemax keep its prized patient alive. The first season of The Knick, the ever-gnarly Cinemax period drama set in the famed New York hospital at the turn of the 20th Century, is getting a limited run on HBO’s digital platforms starting Aug. 14, the cable networks announced Thursday. Cinemax has renewed Steven Soderbergh’s show starring Clive Owen for a second season, coming this fall. HSBC, First Direct customers can now join in the Apple Pay fun in the UK

LONDON — Apple Pay launched in the UK earlier this month to the excitement of many, but not every major bank was signed up to the service. While NatWest, Nationwide, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Ulster worked with the service from its July 17 launch date, several others revealed they’d be late to the party. They’ve now got their act together and are signed up to the service, meaning their customers can pay for things with their iPhone or Apple Watch just like everyone else. Fire rages at Cosmopolitan Hotel on Las Vegas strip

A blaze engulfed the outdoor pool area at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas on Saturday, injuring at least two people, according to local reports. The fire was first reported at 12:15 p.m. local time and a hotel employee told Mashable that it had been contained by around 1 p.m. The cause remains unclear but firefighters told the hotel it appears to have started when a palm tree near the pool caught fire. Guests were evacuated from the hotel, and a local Fox affiliate reported that at least two victims were left with burns.
