You may remember an announcement made by Google several months ago that its indexing system now renders web pages more like a typical web browser. As a direct follow up to that change, Google has just announced an update to one of its technical Webmaster Guidelines. The update specifies that, for optimal rendering and indexing, you should allow Googlebot access to the JavaScript, CSS, and image files used by your page. Lenovo Unveils New ‘Smartband,’ Joins Wearable Tech Race

Lenovo is the latest tech company to jump into the already saturated wearables market. The manufacturer has quietly added a new fitness wristband tracker, called the Lenovo Smartband, to its website. WHO: Number of Ebola-Linked Cases Passes 10,000, Nearly 5,000 Dead

DAKAR, Senegal — More than 10,000 people have been infected with Ebola, according to figures released Saturday by the World Health Organization, as the outbreak continues to spread. Of those cases, 4,922 people have died. See also: Eyewitness to Hell: Life in Ebola-Ravaged Liberia The Ebola epidemic in West Africa is the largest-ever outbreak of the disease, with a rapidly rising death toll in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. There have also been cases in three other West African countries, Spain and the United States. The United Nations health agency said Saturday that the number of confirmed, probable and suspected cases has risen to 10,141. Its figures show about 200 new cases since the last report, four days ago. Ello, the new social network that whose mandate is to never display ads or sell user data, just completed a round of venture funding where they raised $5.5 million. Re/code originally reported this news, which they received from Ello CEO Paul Budnitz. According to Budnitz, the funding will be put towards building the back-end infrastructure to better support Ello’s rapidly growing user base. Re/code reported late Friday evening on a reorganization of Google management. Sources close to the situation tell Re/code that Google CEO Larry Page is transferring leadership of core Google products to Sundar Pichai. A memo was reportedly sent to Google staff this afternoon informing them of the changes. Pichai will now oversee research, search, maps, Google+, commerce and ad products and infrastructure. In addition, Pichai will retain his responsibilities of overseeing Android, Chrome, and Google Apps.
